As a personal trainer, nutritionist, breath coach, boxing coach, and speaker, James is passionate about helping others lead a healthy lifestyle. In 2018 he experienced an accident that caused his left lung to collapse which in his words, “Was the best thing to ever happen to him”. Along the journey of reconnecting with his breath, James found the art of African drumming which has become a pivotal tool in his healing journey. James believes that music, sound, and the rhythms of the African diaspora can help balance the energies within the body and can provide aid in conquering the hurdles throughout his community. James recognizes these hurdles are far more detrimental to our youth. As the oldest sibling of 3, mentoring and guiding the youth has always been a driving force throughout James’s life. He is passionate about providing safe spaces for youth to thrive in through the art of boxing and mindfulness. Also, James is a 2x TedX speaker where he shared the ideas, “If you knew this, you would breathe better” and “Conversation Rules The Nation”. Chrystal Rivers is a native of Austin, Texas with roots in Texas City, a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and an avid community volunteer.
